Sodium hydroxide is a chemical compound from the group of hydroxides classified as bases; it is one of the strongest bases among chemical compounds. The raw material has a wide spectrum of action and applications in many industries. It has an irritating effect on the skin; improper use may result in burns. It is most commonly used as a drain unblocking agent, removes paint and varnish from metal or wooden surfaces, used as a disinfectant, and is added to soap, causing it to lather. The product is intended exclusively for professional use.
